National Seniors Association lobbies on behalf of over-50s. Local branches meet monthly for talks, discussions and outings. The Melbourne branch meets at Block Arcade. New members are very welcome.

SIV (a part of COTA/National Seniors) has a wide range of information on subjects of interest and concern to seniors. They have an extensive database on accommodation resources and publishes directories of Resident-Funded Retirement Villages and Independent Living Units. SIV is also a conduit for many government publications, e.g. Taking Control (recent information on changes to regulations about Enduring Power of Attorney and Guardianship), the Older Drivers' Handbook and Guide to Services for Senior Victorians.
Their motto is that if they don't have the information to hand, they will find it for you.
