Tutoring in: Improving your Health
Dr Nancy Lane has spent approximately the first half her life in the United States and the second half in Australia. She has had a varied career, working as a special librarian for an architecture firm, head of library schools in Perth and Canberra, development officer for the Australian Academy of Science, communications manager for an educational research laboratory in Hawaii, mathematics education centre manager at the University of Melbourne, web content developer for two community development NGOs in Bangkok, and editor for a road safety journal and spa industry magazine. She thinks she has now more or less retired.
Along the way, Nancy wrote several textbooks in librarianship, and numerous articles for magazines and newspapers. She loves languages, and is working on becoming more fluent in Spanish and Thai. On a volunteer basis, she is on the executive committee of the North Melbourne Centre and writes grant proposals for the Lu Rees Archives of Australian Children’s Literature.
She has been interested in fitness and well-being for many years, and is currently writing a self-help book for women over 40 on improving their health. She is a foundation member of The Hub (a cooperative workspace for social entrepreneurs, located in Donkey Wheel House on Bourke Street), where she is coordinator of the Health and Wellness group. She enjoys swimming and yoga, and her long-term goal is to run (well, probably walk, limp or crawl) the Honolulu Marathon in 2027.
